“GQ” Australia has a list of the 11 best rock documentaries of all time . . . and since they didn’t pack it with Aussie stuff like Men At Work and INXS, it’s worth putting up for debate.

 

Here’s their Top 11:

1.  “Gimme Shelter”, 1970 . . . featuring the Rolling Stones’ 1969 tour.

2.  “The Kids Are Alright”, 1979 . . . featuring The Who with drummer Keith Moon.

3.  “Cracked Actor”, 1975 . . . about David Bowie.

4.  “Dig!”, 2004 . . . featuring The Brian Jonestown Massacre and the Dandy Warhols.

5.  “The Decline of Western Civilization”, 1981 . . . about the L.A. punk rock scene.

6.  “Metallica: Some Kind of Monster”, 2004.

7.  “Amy”, 2015 . . . about Amy Winehouse.

8.  “Rolling Thunder Revue: A Bob Dylan Story by Martin Scorsese”, 2020.

9.  “Amazing Grace”, 2018 . . . It follows Aretha Franklin as she recorded her 1972 live album of the same name.

10.  “The Fearless Freaks”, 2005 . . . about The Flaming Lips.

11.  “In Bed with Madonna”, 1991.  It’s also known as “Madonna: Truth or Dare”, and it’s about her life during the 1990 Blond Ambition World Tour.
