Jonathan Jacome has Down’s Syndrome. He has played for three years on the High Springs middle school basketball team as part of the district’s middle school sports program.
Last Wednesday, they were in the 1st round tournament game with Lincoln Middle School, which just last night won the district championship.
With a minute or two left in the game, Jonathan went in. At that point the Lincoln cheerleaders started chanting ‘Let’s go, 25, lets go!” which is Jonathan’s number. He attempted a three point shot, but missed. Lincoln player Dylan Strappy got the rebound, passed it back to Jonathan, who then attempted another three pointer and made it. His reaction as his mom was videotaping was priceless!
