Marion Cultural Alliance’s annual Applaud the Arts event will take place on October 8 with the theme of Starry Night, An Intimate Evening Celebrating the Arts, in Partnership with Ocala’s Marion Theatre.
This year, Applaud the Arts will be an all-day affair at the historic Marion Theatre, culminating in the Evening Celebration at 6pm.
Upon arrival, you will be greeted by photographer Tammy Griffin for a beautiful portrait of your party with an amazing backdrop from the Reilly Arts Center show ArtRageous, which was partially sponsored by MCA.
Each guest will receive a gift box full of tapas and small bites donated by the event’s culinary partners. For the safest experience, these boxes will be prepared and packaged in each sponsor’s restaurant kitchen and handed to you as you arrive. With a quick stop for a glass of wine, beer or non alcoholic drink of your choice, you will then be seated in the main auditorium, safely distanced.
MCA will then have a treat waiting for you in the theatre before the show begins: local vocal powerhouse Ecliff will be singing on stage–while the rest of the fun is their secret! And, as always, the wonderful Dorothy Pernu will be on hand to give out the MCA Arts Awards, Powered by Duke Energy. MCA has a surprise award this year that has never been given before!
Then, on to the big show, “Loving Vincent,” the world’s first, fully painted feature film, which won multiple awards and was a nominee for best Animated Feature at the 90th Annual Academy Awards.
