Have you heard the news? Magnolia Art Xchange has a new president: Justin MacDonald!
Located in the historic Union Station, MAX was designed to facilitate visual artists’ creativity and professionalism. It serves as a collaborative resource hub for artists, educators and art enthusiasts while striving to expand Ocala’s cultural presence.
Justin started on the MAX board in 2016, making it clear that he was not an artist but loves and supports art and the art community. Initially, his focus was on marketing and fundraising, assisting MAX in reaching a goal to help fund construction. Although Justin had plans to relent his position, new tasks arose, and he continued to work with the board moving forward.
Now, taking over as president, Justin has his eyes set on the future of MAX.
“The space [offers] a renewed vision for the art scene in Ocala and a building block to a better economy,” Justin says. “The future of MAX looks like more artists, more (socially distanced) events, more workshops, including online workshops, and a whole lot more community involvement.”
