Yankees, Sox will play game at ‘Field of Dreams’ site

If you build it, they will come . . . or, at least 8,000 people will.

The New York Yankees and the Chicago White Sox will play a regular season game at the site where the 1989 movie “Field of Dreams” was filmed in Iowa.

The game is happening on August 13th of NEXT year, and it’ll air on Fox.

Obviously, there’s not an actual stadium there among the cornfields . . . so a temporary, 8,000-seat ballpark will be built for the game.  Construction will begin Tuesday.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said, quote, “I had heard little whispers about it . . . We’ll get [Kevin] Costner back to throw the first pitch.  [And get] James Earl Jones to get a [catcher’s] mask.”  It’s unclear if he’s serious about that.
