Maybe in Georgia… but not for selling VHS tapes.
Cops in Gwinette County busted an illegal sports gambling ring inside of a building fronted as a VHS rental store. Over a period of time, officers noticed a high volume of foot traffic in and out of the store. They also observed no customer leaving with an actual VHS tape.
When an undercover officer went inside, he noticed the newest release the store had…. was a video from 2007.
Boonlert Boonsawang (how do you get more Georgia than that?) is the owner of the store and was arrested.
